Welcome to the wild world of ZOONOOZ

What is ZOONOOZ? Well, for one thing the title is a palindrome: the same forward, backwards, and upside down! Beyond that, it is the San Diego Zoo's member magazine, 32 pages of colorful animal and event information published every month.

First published in 1926, it is one of the benefits included in becoming a member of the San Diego Zoo, and most of the 250,000 plus circulation is mailed to our members.

What will you find in ZOONOOZ?

ZOONOOZ® Magazine: September 2008

Tall, Spotted, and HandsomeZOONOOZ Cover

The mesmerizing gaze of dark eyes framed by lush lashes and the flexible lips of a Masai giraffe Giraffa camelopardalis tippelskirchi add up to an expressive face, as one-year-old Kathryn demonstrates. Of the nine subspecies of giraffes, the Masai giraffes at the Zoo are the smallest. While fully grown males of other types may reach 18 feet in height, the adult male at the Zoo, Silver, stands about 16 feet tall—still an impressive stature! The Zoo's new giraffe exhibit on Elephant Mesa gives visitors a chance to size up these gentle giants and connect with them in a way that';s a treat for human and giraffe alike. Read more about our herd's new home in this month's issue of ZOONOOZ®
